Troubleshooting Guide

Are you having any of the following problems? Here is how to fix them.

Unhappy with the audio quality

You can try another app we work with called RevHeadz. That one works better for some users.

Jumps in the Audio

If you can hear consistent jumps in your audio, that is usually the result of a car with an older ECU that cannot process Wrumer requests fast enough.

One way to mitigate this issue is to, in the app, go under "Settings" -> "Protocol" -> Turn on "Simple request mode".

That can speed up the rate at which the ECU reports data to Wrumer.

Delayed Audio

If you experience a delay of 1 or 2 seconds, that usually means that the method you used to connect your phone to the speakers is flawed.

Read more about it here: Connecting to the speakers

Stuck on "Unable to connect"

If when you click the "Connect" button and a window pops up saying "Unable to connect":

1. Make sure the ignition is on.
2. Try to turn on "Simple request mode" in the settings menu under "Connection".
3. Try to unplug the device and plug it back in.
If that doesn't fix the problem, it usually means your car has a faulty OBD2 port.

Try testing Wrumer on another car to see if the problem is with the device or the car.

Stuck on "Searching..."

If when you click the "Connect" button it turns yellow and then gets stuck with the "Searching..." message, it means that the app cannot find the Wrumer device. You need to make sure that the device is properly inserted and that the car's ignition is switched on.

Try unplugging and plugging the device back in.

If that doesn't help it means your OBD2 is probably faulty.

Connected but RPM is 0

The first thing you need to do is make sure the ignition is on.

If that doesn't fix the problem, try, in the app, navigating to "Settings" -> "Protocol" -> Turn on "Simple request mode".

If that doesn't work try unplugging and plugging the device back in.

You can also try another app we work with called RevHeadz. That one works better for some users.

Doesn't work with Android Auto

Some customers have reported that the Wrumer app doesn't work on Android Auto. It plays the sounds through the phone speakers instead of the car speakers.

We are aware of the issue and are working on fixing it.

In the meantime, you can try another app we work with called RevHeadz.

Still unhappy?

If none of those fixed the issue and you want to return the device please refer to Handling Returns
